Advisor

Managing Director – Leading Edge Adventures & Airparks Pvt. Ltd.

Capt. Satish Pathania is a nationally respected aviation and adventure tourism professional with over 30 years of experience spanning civil aviation, aero sports, airparks, ropeways, and mountain-based tourism infrastructure. A former Indian Air Force pilot and instructor, he brings together operational excellence, policy insight, and on-ground execution in some of India’s most complex and remote environments.

As the Founder and Managing Director of Leading Edge Adventures & Airparks Pvt. Ltd., a DGCA-recognised organization, Capt. Pathania has been instrumental in shaping India’s aero sports and adventure tourism ecosystem since the early 1990s. The company works closely with central ministries, state governments, defence forces, PSUs, and private developers, providing end-to-end consultancy—from feasibility studies and DPRs to project design, safety frameworks, and implementation support.

Professional Expertise

Capt. Pathania’s work sits at the intersection of aviation, adventure sports (air, land, and water), and alternative mobility systems such as ropeways and cable cars. He has advised on and led projects across more than 20 Indian states, including airparks, STOL runways, helicopter and air taxi services, adventure parks, aero sports institutes, and ropeway systems—many of them in ecologically sensitive or strategically important regions.

He has played a key role in national policy and standards development, having served as:

  • Technical Member, National Aero Sports Development & Advisory Committee (Ministry of Tourism, Government of India)
  • Nominated Chairman, Safety Guidelines Sub-Committee (Aero Sports), Adventure Tour Operators Association of India
  • Head, Review Committee on Cable Car & Ropeway Urban Transport, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India
Defence, Aviation & High-Altitude Operations

Capt. Pathania served in the Indian Air Force (1974–1989) as a pilot, instructor, and flight safety specialist, with expertise in microlights, hang gliding, paragliding, paramotoring, and anti–bird-hit aviation operations. He was closely involved in establishing aero sports training capabilities within the IAF and led high-altitude operational missions, including aircraft search and recovery in the Himalayas.

An accomplished mountaineer, he has participated in and led major Himalayan expeditions and long-distance trek-glide explorations, bringing rare operational insight into aviation and adventure activities in extreme terrain.

Thought Leadership & Industry Contribution

In addition to project work, Capt. Pathania is a speaker, advisor, and writer on aviation, adventure tourism, and aero sports. He has addressed national conferences, government workshops, and ministerial forums, and has contributed to leading Indian and international publications on adventure sports and aviation tourism.

Credentials & Recognition

He holds international flying licences issued by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) and has received multiple commendations from senior leadership in the Indian Air Force and the Ministry of Defence for operational excellence and innovation.
