Donation Refund Policy - Empower Trust

WE ACCEPT DONATIONS ONLY FROM INDIAN CITIZENS

1. Introduction

Empower Trust (hereinafter referred to as "the Trust") follows a transparent and fair policy for the processing of refund requests for donations made through our website (the "Website")")or other official channels. We appreciate your support for our initiatives in biodiversity conservation, health, education, livelihoods, rural development and Development of marginalized communities.

2. Policy on Donations

The Trust expects all donors to exercise due care and diligence while making donations. As a charitable organization, once a donation is received, it is immediately earmarked for our ongoing projects. Therefore, the Trust is not obligated to make refunds and may, at its discretion, decline any request for a refund.

3. Eligibility for Refund

Refunds will only be considered under the following exceptional circumstances:

  • Technical Error: If a duplicate transaction occurs due to an error in the payment gateway or a technical glitch on the website.
  • Erroneous Amount: If an unintended amount is entered by the donor during the transaction.
  • Unauthorized Use: In the event of documented unauthorized use of a donor’s credit/debit card or bank account by a third party.

4. Refund Request Process

To request a refund, the donor must send a written request via email to info@empower-trust.org within 48 hours of the donation date. The request must include:

  • Date of donation
  • Donation amount
  • Transaction ID / Payment Gateway Reference Number
  • Reason for the refund request

5. Statutory Restrictions (Section 80G)

  • Tax Certificates: If a tax exemption certificate under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act has already been issued to the donor, the Trust will be unable to process a refund request.
  • Utilization: Refunds will not be entertained if the donation has already been utilized or deployed for a specific project/campaign.

6. Processing of Refunds

Once a valid request is received, the Trust will review the case. We may request additional documentation or a "Letter of Declaration" from the donor.

If approved, the refund will be processed within 15–21 working days.

Refunds will be credited back to the original payment method (bank account/card) used during the donation. No cash refunds will be issued.

The Trust reserves the right to deduct any third-party payment gateway charges or processing fees incurred during the transaction.

7. Decisions are Final

The Board of Trustees of Empower Trust shall have the final authority to decide on any refund request. The decision made by the Trust shall be final and binding on the donor.
