Lalitha Mathew

Lalitha Mathew is a social worker and development sector professional with a rich and diverse career spanning media, education, advertising, and nonprofit development. She has worked with Down To Earth, the flagship monthly publication of the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi, and with Jagran Pehel, the CSR arm of the Dainik Jagran Group. Her early development sector experience includes work with Citizens Foundation, Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Lalitha has also volunteered with Community Water, a leading NGO working to provide safe drinking water through RO systems in rural communities, and with Antara, a mental health institution based in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

Prior to entering the development sector, Lalitha spent several years in the media industry, working with prominent publications such as Dainik Jagran, Prabhat Khabar, and Delhi Press Magazines across Kolkata, Ranchi, and New Delhi. Earlier in her career, she worked in the advertising sector with agencies in Hyderabad and Kolkata. She began her professional journey in education as a mathematics teacher and later served as the Principal of a school in Andhra Pradesh.

Hailing from a family of passionate birdwatchers and bird photographers, Lalitha regularly travels to birding destinations across India and actively supports conservation initiatives through her personal interests and professional engagements.
