Bird Painting competition among children in Dhanauri Wetlands

InNearly 100 children from Amipur village, bordering the Dhanauri Wetlands in Delhi NCR participated in a vibrant bird painting competition held at the upcoming Wetland Education Center being established by Empower Trust.

Through their colours and creativity, the children celebrated the birds they see around them every day — a small but meaningful step towards building future guardians of these precious habitats. It is always important to catch them young; children who grow up appreciating birds and nature are more likely to value and protect them as adults.

Experts and senior birders including Mr. Ram Veer, Mr. Manoj Nair, Mr. Suman Saha, Mr. Vijay Singh and others also interacted with the community, speaking about the importance of wetlands and the many ways birds and healthy habitats can benefit the village — from ecological balance to future opportunities linked to conservation and nature awareness.

The event was organised by Empower Trust under a collaborative project with the Delhi Bird Photographers group, with the active support of village leaders. Prizes were distributed to winners as well as all participants, making the day both joyful and inspiring.

This initiative is part of the community outreach and awareness efforts under the Birds & Habitats Conservation Alliance (BHCA), helping nurture the next generation’s connection with birds, wetlands, and conservation.
